Hyperhidrosis is a common condition

Hyperhidrosis is a common condition in which a person sweats excessively due to overstimulation of the sweat glands by our nervous system. Our body uses sweat as a form of temperature control in order to cool itself. Hyperhidrosis affects mostly the armpits, the face, the palms of the hands and soles of the feet and can result in emotional, psychological, social, and occupational impairment.

There are three main types of sweat glands

Eccrine sweat glands are found across nearly the entire body surface area and produce watery salty sweat.

Apocrine sweat glands are only found in the armpits (axilla) and groin, and produce a thicker, fattier sweat.

Apoeccrine glands are found only in the axilla and produce salty watery sweat similar to eccrine gland sweat.

Why does our sweat smell?

The bacteria that live in the armpits and groin areas metabolise the fatty sweat produced by apocrine sweat glands into smelly by-products which give the distinctive odour that we can smell if we forget to apply deodorant.

How does Botulinum toxin work?

Our specialists at Ananeosis are proficient in the most advanced and safe method for treating hyperhidrosis – botulinum toxin therapy. Botulinum toxin blocks the nervous signals responsible for sweating, stopping the sweat glands from producing too much sweat. This treatment is reversible and does not harm the sweat glands. Patients feel the change in just 2-5 days and enjoy relief for up to 6 months.

How does Morpheu8 work?

Morpheus8 is an FDA-approved treatment to alleviate excessive sweating, especially in the underarms. Morpheus8 uses the power of radiofrequency plus microneedling to desensitize the sweat glands to reduce the symptom at the root of the problem.
